Two important items were overshadowed by Speaker Pelosi’s announcement of an impeachment inquiry.
FIRST: The Senate voted unanimously to demand the whistle-blower report be released to the Senate and House intelligence committees. UNANIMOUSLY. Which means that every Republican in the Senate voted for the report to be released.
NEXT: In response to Pelosi’s announcement, House Minority Leader Mike McCarthy made a mild, tepid three-sentence statement, not a full-throat, barn-burner defense of Trump.
Do these two events mean the GOP is waking up to what a disaster Trump is they are quietly abandoning him to his fate, in hopes he will not destroy the Republican Party as he goes down in flames?
